Seeing The Joy In What You Have

Hello Friends! A Blessed Mabon to you!

Today is the Fall Equinox and I have bid a fond farewell to summer today. I'm very much enjoying the cooler nights, the changing of the season, the warm cozy meals, sweaters and blankets and the beauty of the colours of Autumn. The air at this time of year has a special fragrance doesn't it?

Today I am celebrating what I have in my life, what I'm very grateful for, what brings me joy. I used to only live for the future, I had a case of the "when-then's"...when the winter is over, then I'll feel better...when I buy my house, then I'll be happier...when I find love, then I'll feel complete...I'm sure some of you can relate!

I changed my thinking around quite some time ago. I make do with what I have with dreams of the future of course! But I live in the moment as much as I can and I'm grateful to be alive, despite the challenges of chronic pain and the world around me.

Where is the joy in your life? Look around you! Life is so short, drink in every moment! Celebrate the abundance of life! Celebrate the harvest by baking some bread, or making an apple dish. Write a gratitude list. Think about what you need to leave behind and make honest efforts to do so. Go spend time outside if you can, walk the dogs, pick some beautiful leaves and make a centerpiece - enjoy yourself!

Happy Autumnal Equinox Rain! I freakin' love this holiday and I with you all the goodness in the world.

I'm thankful every single ding dong day. For realz. Even with having been so sick in the past, I tell you the truth, I learned more from that time than I lost.

Happy Autumn with a great big side of boogie boogie.

Blessed Autumnal Equinox, Rain. It's a painfully sunny hot day here in Texas. The weather won't be changing for us until the end of October or the middle of November. We have only two seasons here summer and dang it's out outside.

Yes, life is short and if we don't find joy and appreciation today, we may never have it. I realize some people are currently in situations where enjoying every moment is very difficult, but for those of us who have a multitude of choices we can make each and every day to make our lives all they can be . . . go for it! The only thing holding us back is old habits and negative thoughts. As you so wisely say, Rain, make an honest effort to let go of all that you need to leave behind and start living to the max! (I think it's spring time in which most people feel these urges to improve ones self and their everyday living, but for me it's autumn. Love it!)

What a wise post, Rain! It makes me happy to see how much you've overcome and are still overcoming, and yet you persist in a positive, in-the-moment outlook. How could those three little squirrels, for example not fill you with joy? You make it happen! I am enjoying the arrival of fall and all that it brings. Yesterday I had to put the fireplace on for the first time this season, and I put it on again this morning. I love my fire! I thank God every day for the gift, the miracle of being alive. Just by being born, we've won the biggest lottery of all (Just think of the millions of sperm racing for that one egg ~ I read an article on fertility this morning ~ LOL). I am very fortunate because it doesn't take much to make me happy. I find joy all over the place, everyday. Not to suggest that I don't have plenty of downs, but the joy outweighs all. Have a good one, my friend!

Hi Rain....I enjoyed seeing that you posted in your thoughts blog! I know summer with a garden and canning, putting up and playing around outside takes up a lot of your time. Maybe things will settle down for a bit now. Course it sounds like your temps are starting to greet winter soon. Its amazing today, cloudy with chance of rain but the temps are in the low 80s and there is a breeze. I am loving it. Love that center piece. You are a creative mind, esp in your painting and cooking. I try my best to live with in the moment, problem is a lot of the times the body says...HELL NO...but I am doing better. I try not to plan much, I go with the flow.

ahh joy is everywhere if you letl yourself see it. It took me a long time to know that - i was too busy working in the past to notice. Now it's easy to slip into the now and anchor my attention to what's in front of me and appreciate it.
