Day 12 of 30 Days of Self Love: Learn Something New

Hello Friends :)

Today's Self Love Challenge is to learn something new. Having access to the internet is a wonderful thing! There are SO MANY things you can teach yourself...how to paint, how to repair your car, how to install plumbing, how to cook, bake, can, garden...it's endless. There is no reason NOT to teach yourself something new! Not only does it keep your brain working, it gives you a sense of accomplishment as you build your skill set and your confidence levels. Today I learned some napkin folding and I wanted to share that with you!

Very useful advice! Teaching ourselves skills with the aid of Youtube tutorials, helps us save money.

"Shame on me!" I've never learned something, from a Utube video.

Right now, I'm *researching* "shelving," to hold things like sheets, towels, bathroom essentials. What with our bathroom/bedroom moving downstairs soon.

Gotta' get all the stuff down here, after all is done, so I can know how many "shelves" we need.

Construction is just the first part!!!! -sigh- Learning how to live on one floor, is still to come.

But I'm not going to sweat it. Rome wasn't built in a day, and we don't have to have everything perfectly set up, in a day , either. :-))))

And guess this project, can count, as learning something new!!!! Never had to do this before! So it's New. And it involves Learning!!! :-)

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS to you and Alex on your anniversary day!

I believe one is NEVER too old to learn something new. Or to experience new things in your life. When we stop thinking, setting goals, being open to learning . . . that's when we start to stop living. Don't want that to happen, now do we?? Hugs. :o)

P.S. Could your folded rose be much prettier? How clever and attractive!

I love learning new things. I saw your napkins in the other post. So cool and I love how you always decorate your table for you and Alex like you are having a party for so many others!I don't make New Years Resolutions but I do try to sat goals out there to try. My goals this past yr were to learn and study up more on my draw to nature/herbs/cards etc, try my hand at Calligraphy, try my hand at creative short story writing, work more on wood burning and play around with watercolor. I have yet to do any of that yet. The yr is moving along and leaving me behind right now. But no problem, I will catch up. Way to go on learning NEW!

Hi Wisps of Words :) I'm sure that living on one floor will be something you'll get used to very quickly! You are setting up your lifestyle to suit your needs, I think that's wonderful. Actually, while looking at real estate, we are focusing on bungalows because we want our lives to be easier as we age too. I like that you're looking into building shelving, it's very rewarding! I'm glad you're learning about that! :)

Hi Dino :) Thank you! That's pretty neat. I just looked up a table top loom and I WANT ONE!!! :) You can make so many nice things with that, what a great hobby! And yes, the internet is really a great resource for learning!

Thanks Mama Pea :) Six years...my gosh, feels like we just met yesterday! :) I agree, once we stop learning, we become lumps on the couch I think lol...I never want that to happen to me.

Hi Pam :) I think it's understandable that you aren't focusing too much on your goals considering the year you've had so far. But I do think that taking a wee bit of time out of your day to do some kind of "art therapy" would really be a good thing. Watercolours are great for that, you can just apply the paint, water, move the canvas around...it's all so freeing to create abstracts. Calligraphy sounds great too, I tried that once but got too impatient lol...one day maybe I'll try it again! xx
